“Only the educated are free.” ~ Epictetus 55-135 BC (Greek Philosopher and exponent of Stoicism)

One the greatest benefits of being an Alarm Association of Florida member is the eligibility to receive scholarships for education. For many years the Alarm Industry Foundation of Florida (a 501c3 sister organization of the AAF) has provided tens of thousands of scholarship dollars for member’s children and children of public safety personnel.

Each year the Alarm Industry Foundation of Florida awards scholarships to these eligible candidates. Once again in the Spring of 2016 the Foundation will present money to eligible students that can be used to assist in paying for their education.

You will see more information regarding this wonderful project as we direct your attention to the AIFF web page.

Students and children of parents within public safety or private sector security who meet the qualifications are eligible to apply for this marvelous benefit. If you know of anyone who meets these criteria, please refer them to the web site to fill out an application. Please be advised that the scholarship window opens September 16, 2015 and closes December 15, 2015. Please make sure that all of the necessary paperwork is submitted to the foundation to complete the application in a timely fashion.

We urge all our members to take advantage of this as both an industry benefit and a practical solution to today’s rising education costs. Anyone associated with financing education in today’s marketplace is very familiar with what is required and every bit of additional income helps immensely.

The AIFF also provides scholarship money to designated Florida law enforcement officers for specialized leadership training in support of our public safety community.

In addition, we encourage anyone who wishes to donate to the scholarship fund, to contribute whatever you can to help us raise the continuing monies for this project. A contribution form is available for download on the web site listed above. Our thanks to all previous contributors and we seek your indulgence once again in helping us maintain this critical and necessary work.

There is a volunteer committee of AAF members who oversee the selection and distribution process of scholarship grants. We thank the trustees of the AIFF for their untiring efforts and invite all of you to express your thanks to them for this great project that has benefited so many over the years. Let us all continue to help those so deserving of these grants.
